About Us

Lagos Fringe, founded by Kenneth Uphopho in 2018, has rapidly grown to become one of the largest outdoor festivals in West Africa. Our mission is to support and showcase artists through diverse initiatives, including a mix of performances such as theatre, poetry, film, spoken word, exhibitions, literature, dance, and music. We facilitate connections among artists, encourage collaborative projects, promote global artistic collaborations, and broadcast training sessions and shows both locally and internationally. Our professional development efforts include workshops, conversations, and networking events, focusing on creative entrepreneurship and development.

The festival features a rich array of activities, including panel discussions, training sessions, focus groups, virtual conferences, and digital exhibitions. These events culminate in presentations of theatre shows, music, poetry, visual arts, installations, and film screenings.

Program Methods and Design

Venues are allocated to presenting companies who apply to participate in the festival, with technical and marketing support provided at no extra cost. A program of events is presented to the public well in advance, ensuring broad visibility and engagement.

Participating companies have the opportunity to undergo skills development training before the festival, facilitated by established producers, directors, festival managers, and entrepreneurs. These trainings aim to enhance the quality of work presented and support the professional growth of the presenters.
